The seed of its fruit is generally regarded as a dried fruit: the almond.
It is native to the Middle East, in the Mediterranean climate regions of Syria, Turkey, and Pakistan, although it has already been introduced in several other places, such as in Europe.
From almonds are extracted oils and essences with medicinal properties, which are are widely used in the cosmetics industry and in the production of amaretto liqueur.
