Acerola is natural of West Indies, Central and South Americas. It was successfully introduced in sub-tropical areas around the world and some of the largest plantations are in Brazil.
With a fantastic vitamin C content (ascorbic acid), varying from 1,500 to 4,600mg per 100g/juice, acerola has from 50 to 100 times more such vitamin than the same amount of orange or lemon juice. Among the most known, cultivated and commercialized fruits, it has the richest Vitamin C content.
It also has a large content of vitamins A, B, iron, calcium and sugar. The daily consumption of 2 to 4 acerolas is enough to supply the regular needs of the human organism.
