Pineapple

Pineapple is natural of South America, most probably from Brazil, and was taken to Europe to give evidence of the exotic abundance of the lands on west of Atlantic Ocean. Easy to cultivate, the fruit cruised the seas and was quickly spread through Africa, China, Java, Thailand, India and Philippines.
In Brazil, two varieties are cultivated: Perola and Smooth Cayenne.
Pineapple is one of the most popular tropical fruit in the world and this success is also due to low calorie rate and richness in vitamins, such as A, B, C, mineral salts and fibers.
